Study Reveals Human-Caused Climate Change Alters Ocean Colors

A new study, led by scientists from the National Oceanography Center in the UK and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US suggests that human-induced climate change is responsible for significant changes in the color of the world’s oceans.

Over the past two decades, more than 56% of the oceans have experienced color shifts, particularly in tropical regions. The color changes indicate ecosystem transformations, impacting phytoplankton, food chains, carbon storage, and overall ocean health. Scientists stress the need for urgent action to tackle the profound consequences of climate change on marine ecosystems.
