A study conducted at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), reveals alarming findings regarding the SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics between humans and white-tailed deer in the United States.

The virus has been transmitted from humans to deer in at least 106 instances, leading to mutations. Disturbingly, there are indications that in three separate cases, the mutated virus may have spilled back from deer to humans, raising significant concerns about potential transmission and the emergence of new variants.
