Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter and Tesla, recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Modi’s visit to New York. Musk voiced his enthusiasm for India’s future, claiming that the country holds more promise than any other significant country in the world. He praised PM Modi for his passion and support for electric car maker Tesla and discussed the possibility of making a significant investment in India.

Modi, who had not met Musk since he acquired Twitter last year, tweeted about their meeting, mentioning their discussions on various issues like energy and spirituality. Musk reciprocated the sentiment, stating that it was an honor to meet with Modi again. He spoke highly of the prime minister, saying that Modi cares deeply about India and is supportive of new companies, ensuring that they benefit the country.

“It was a fantastic meeting with the Prime Minister and I like him quite a lot. He visited our Tesla Fremont Factory several years ago, and so we’ve now known each other for a while.” “I think there’s a tremendous amount of potential for all three pillars of the sustainable energy future. The three pillars are sustainable energy generation through solar and wind, primarily. And obviously, India is great for solar. And the amount of land area you actually need to generate enough electricity to power India is very small. I believe it’d be probably one or 2% of the land area of India. So it’s very doable,” he added on investment plans in India.

“I can say he really wants to do the right thing for India. He wants to be open, he wants to be supportive of new companies, obviously, but at the same time, make sure it accrues to India’s advantage, which is obviously that’s the job I’m saying. I am a fan of Modi,” Musk stated following the meeting, according to news agency ANI.

Although Musk did not make any specific announcements, he hinted at the likelihood of further investment in India. He expressed confidence in Tesla’s presence in the country, stating that they will establish a manufacturing base in India as soon as possible. There is also speculation that Musk may explore investment opportunities in solar energy in India, considering the country’s potential in that sector.

Modi’s visit to the US includes meetings with various thought leaders, including Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, and entrepreneurs. He is the third Indian prime minister to be invited for a state visit by the US president, indicating the strong ties between the two nations. The visit highlights the deepening relationship between India and the US in multiple fields, particularly in defense and trade.

The focus of Modi’s discussion with President Joe Biden will be on increasing defense relations, technological partnerships, and India’s position in the Indo-Pacific region.
